Ripatransone’s gastronomy respects tradition, continuing to remain healthy, genuine, and tasty. In restaurants and agritourism, dishes are prepared following ancient recipes, some of which have been recently revived, such as: “lu ciavarra” , “angel hair” or tiny macaroni, “li taccu ” nghë lu sapëritta “, stracciatella, stockfish in sauce , ” li cuccelú ” , pecorino with fresh broad beans, ” lu frestinga ” – typical Christmas dessert, tart with ricotta, donuts with must and anise and you will taste the famous Vino Santo of Ripatransone.

The strong boundaries, the towers, the bridges, the temples, and many other monuments are admirably preserved, despite the many centuries that passed between the Roman Era and today. The city is made of Travertine, a particular stone that became during the century an economic resource for the whole city.
Show-cooking of the Oliva All’ascolana, a traditional dish, a true gastronomic Ascolan symbol. The “oliva all’ascolana” earned DOP (Denomination of Protected Origin) recognition: tender and crispy at the same time, with its characteristic slightly bitterish aftertaste, it is one of the Italian olives that enjoys great prestige, also excellent in the production of extra virgin olive oils.

The history of the monastery is closely linked to the evolution of the Franciscan order in the Marche. The convent restored after the earthquake of 1997, was designed by the Town Council to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of civic duty. The new museum unfolds in the rooms of the monastery by accepting the Hall of Carlo Crivelli, the Documentation Centre Scenic Giancarlo Basili, Adolfo de Carolis Museum, the Museum of Rural Life, and the collection Domenico Cantatore.

Day 6: Offida
Breakfast at the hotel. With the Tour Leader and transfer to Offida. Guided tour of this amazing ancient village.
The triangular main piazza is dominated by the beautiful Town Hall, one of the finest examples of 15th-century civic architecture in the Marche. The building’s lovely upper loggia and swallowtail battlements give the square true class. The nearby Theatre del Serpente Aureo is a beautiful 18th-century theatre, decorated with stucco and gilded carvings.
The most remarkable tourist attraction is the church of Santa Maria della Rocca, which stands a little way from the main piazza. The Romanesque-Gothic church is one of the area’s most important examples of Piceno monastic art.
Offida is well-known for hand-made lace. Lace-making is one of Offida’s most common crafts. Women can still be seen, seated at their doorways in old town passageways, working intently with bobbins, threads of white or grey yarn, and pins on designs of flowers and animals. Offida also boasts the bobbin lace museum (which has a separate path for blind people).

Requirements

Savor the Marche – Uncover an Authentic Culinary Adventure

The documentation required to enter Italy varies according to your country of origin:

  • for EU citizens and citizens of countries that have signed the Schengen Agreement, a valid identity card is sufficient as an alternative to a passport;
  • Citizens from non-EU countries may enter Italy with a passport valid for at least three months after the planned date of departure from the Schengen Area.

Do I need a visa to go to Italy?

When you will need a visa to enter Italy

Depending on your country of origin, you may require a visa to enter Italy. You can request a visa from the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence and it will generally be issued after 90 days. To find out which countries require a visa to enter Italy, please visit esteri.it. On this website, you can enter your nationality, your country of residence, the duration of your stay (less than or more than 90 days) and the reason for your trip. Remember that once you arrive at the border, the authorities may request documentation justifying your reasons for and duration of your stay in Italy.

If you are staying at a hotel or other accommodation, its manager will fill out a Declaration of Presence for you, which they will then send to the Police Headquarters. However, it is always a good idea to always carry a copy of the Declaration with you, so that you can show it to the police in the event that they want to check.

If you enter Italy from a country outside the Schengen Area, the uniform Schengen stamp, which is affixed to your passport during border control, replaces the Declaration of Presence. If you enter Italy from a Schengen Area country and do not stay in an accommodation facility, you must submit a Declaration of Presence to the Police Headquarters of the province in which you are staying within eight days of entering Italy.

Travel insurance in Italy: tips for a smooth journey

Travel insurance is always recommended: this ensures that you are financially covered in the event of delays or flight cancellations, and you won’t be caught out in the event you experience health problems.

It is always a good idea to keep a screenshot or PDF copy of bookings for flights, hotels, or other documents on your phone: this makes it easier to show information if requested.
